5 May - International Day of the Rights of People with Disabilities

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be unable to hear a child's laughter? What is it like to take your first step without pain? What does it feel like to believe the world isn't meant for you? For thousands of children with disabilities in Ukraine, this is an everyday reality. But it shouldn't be a permanent condition. Inclusion is not about pity; it is about equality, universal access, and a decent life for everyone, without exception.

According to the Ministry of Health, approximately 2.5 million people with disabilities are currently living in Ukraine. Today, the issue of protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities is even more crucial for the country due to the war, which is increasing the number of injuries among military personnel and civilians. Unfortunately, their rights are violated more frequently than those of others.

We have no right to ignore this injustice because a democratic society does not accept discrimination on any grounds. At the Charity Exchange' DobroDiy," we communicate and cooperate daily with parents whose children have been diagnosed with a disability. The issues of their recovery, and therefore creating inclusive conditions for it, are priorities.

Partnerships with various rehabilitation facilities help many of our wards attend classes regularly. We witness how rehabilitation transforms lives. After the first course, the child can hold a spoon. After that, the child gets out of the wheelchair. Step by step - to school, to friends, to dreams. Because inclusion starts right here: in the rehabilitation hall, where confidence and a future are born.

For us, the fight for the rights of people with disabilities is about ensuring that every child feels like a whole part of society. For this, we need not only laws—we need your active participation. We're not asking for sympathy; we're talking about justice. Everyone has the right to a voice, to a movement, to a dream, and to participate!
